Mitch's big day!

We took Mitch to see Walle in the theatres yesterday. He was so thrilled! We have been waiting for this day since February when we first heard of Walle and he started going to the Disney website http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/wall-e/ almost daily. The movie was great and when Walle first came on screen Mitch squealed "Dad, there he is, it's Walle!!" It was a great time and afterward we took him for ice cream.

I think now it's time to do something special with Megan though, because today Mitch is going to gym camp at the Little Gym and she was really miffed that she didn't go and last night she stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while we were at the movies. I'm sure she didn't mind but I am getting the feeling she is getting the little sister blues. I can hear her up in her crib banging the wall and whimpering still. She threw a huge fit after leaving Mitch at gym and we still have to go pick him up...

Walle and Barbie move in

I took the kids to Toys R Us this morning in search of Walle toys. The movie opened today and Mitch has been dying for some sort of Walle-box-toy-type thing. When we got to the store I waisted no time and asked the first person who worked there if they had Walle toys and where they were. According to this person we were lucky we came at 10am because he said by noon most of the toys are gone. Mitch was so thrilled when he saw them and picked out his new Walle box which he proclaimed was "just what he always wanted"!!

With only 3 weeks until Megan's birthday I thought we would shop around a little and see what caught her eye in hopes of getting some ideas for her. Nothing really set off any bells until we rounded the Barbie aisle...and then the she saw them...the plastic dolls, standing up straight and skinny in their sleek cardboard boxes and she pointed at one dressed in a bikini and said, "I hab dat!!" I handed it to her and as a mom that played with Barbies until the age of 12(maybe 13) I knew Barbie was going home with us.

So today, Walle and Barbie moved in to our house. Walle rolls all over the place and makes funny noises and Barbie, who once had beautiful hair, now has a tangled mass of blonde hair. I sat on the floor with the kids for a long time and took it all in, wondering what they were thinking and remembering long ago lazy summer days of playing Barbies ALL summer long.

Splashy Fun

The kids had fun over the weekend playing in the water on our deck. We really do have a little pool for them but they thought the dog bowls were much more fun...: )

"Nana is gonna barf if she knew I was drinking the water from my shoe!!"

Time for a nap!

Rockin Movie Night

Last night I recorded the premier of the Disney Channel's new movie Camp Rock and tonight we popped popcorn, let the kids stay up and had a movie night. Our kids are a little little (no, a lot little) to really get the gist of the movie, but it had the Jonas Brothers in and it was a good wholesome movie. I think Frank was bored with it but I thought it was cute and Megan danced almost the whole time and Mitch loved all the trailers for WALL E. So now I am off to bed and singing "we rock, we rock"! and probably will be most of the summer! Thanks Jonas Brothers! : )

Bad day at bedrock....

Today was not a good day. Frank came home early after a desperate call by me at about 4:30, pleading for back up! I will spare you the gory details and save myself the embarrassment because if I shared everything that went on today I am sure you would all be laughing and enjoying yourselves much more than I would appreciate. Let me just say that Megan is a budding artist and yesterday she drew all over the kitchen floor with sidewalk chalk and today wasn't much better and every chance she got she dipped, walked, dangled or sloshed in the dog bowl(and we have a big one because we have 3 dogs). Mr. Mitch was just downright ornery and I am thinking of calling my MIL and pleading with her to take him for the summer or offer me some sort of advice because according to Frank the apple doesn't fall from the tree...great! I have been exhausted every night this week to the point that I am asleep before my head even hits the pillow. Thank goodness for summer, parks and pools to wear these 2 out because my only saving grace and time of peace is their afternoon naps/rests!
Tomorrow is another day and I pray it is nothing like today!

First Crop

This year the kids and I planted a vegetable garden and last night we picked our first crop of spinach. It tasted so yummy! Unfortunately the weather is getting really warm and the rest of the spinach is not doing so well so I am not sure we will be getting much more. The pumpkins and cucumbers are doing great though and the sunflowers are in a race for the top of the fence. It's been fun to see what is growing and the kids love to see what is getting bigger each day. Now if I could just teach them to do the weeding... : )

Happy Father's Day!

What a day we had! This morning we went to the Colorado Railroad Museum with my parents for their annual Father's Day steam up and got to ride one of the big trains. I haven't been to the museum since I was little but my parents have a pass and take the kids all the time so Mitch and Megan were pros at climbing in and out of all the trains and we came home covered in cinders and ashes! : ) It was a lot of fun and exactly the sort of thing Frank and my dad wanted to do. Then we went to my sister's for a picnic and her hubby barbecued for all the dad's. Dinner was wonderful, the kids got to play, and we all relaxed on my their deck.

Most importantly, Happy Father's day to my father and the father of my children! Love ya!

A Big girl now!

Megan decided this morning that she was having no more of the highchair. She drug the booster seat up from downstairs with great effort and insisted that she sit where I usually sit. She was so dramatic about it that I tried not to laugh and let her have her way. She's almost 2 so I figured it was time anyway. So basically, my baby is growing up! This was also Mitch's very last official day of preschool and we took him to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate for lunch. Everyone had a great time and I will post some pics tomorrow. Now it's summer vacation and we are all ready to relax...I hope! : )

Hep, Mom! Hep!!

"Hep" aka Help is one of Megan's favorite words. It goes with being 2 because I remember Mitch being about this age and needing "help". This season(almost summer) I have noticed that what Megan needs help with isn't quite the same as what Mitch needed help with when he was 2. At the park today she needed "hep" on the bars or swings and after lunch she needed "hep" with the bubbles. She needs "hep" doing all the big things like her brother. Lately, I watch her run behind him, tag along, trying to get her legs to keep up wanting to be just like him but also needing some "hep" from mom. It's sweet to see her wanting so much to be big but this time around it doesn't bother me so much when she needs so much "hep" because I can see it won't be long and her little legs will catch up to her big brother and off she'll go.

Quick update

It's been a week since surgery and I am proud to say I am doing pretty well, extremely tired, but doing really well. Thanks to all of you who brought over dinner, helped with the kids and sent cheery emails. I really appreciate it and felt your prayers. Frank thanks you too. Anyone up for a marathon laundry folding party? I didn't know one family could go through so much laundry in a week!

Do you Facebook??

Yesterday it was TV, today it's Facebook. Do you Facebook? If not check out www.facebook.com it is totally addicting and if you are a people watcher like me you can get totally hooked. It's a fun way to "socialize" with friends on the Internet, meet new friends or find old friends. In the past few months I have reconnected with a friend from high school and 3 from college. I have also spent way too much time posting to people I see just about every week. Hopefully I will feel better soon and can get out and away from the TV and Internet soon!! : )

Too much TV!

I have been watching too much TV! Cooped up with a hurty middle, not able to get out and bend over very much, camped out on the couch I have been watching more than my fair share of TV. I've seen movies...27 Dresses, Juno and something random on Lifetime and lots of television shows. My favs are NCIS and Without a Trace all in re-runs and OnDemand on Comcast, and of course my soap General hospital but I have found the new/old Discovery channel that changed it's name to Planet Green and now I am hooked on that. Today I watched Wasted, and the G Word and now the silly channel has me contemplating my carbon footprint, organic food, compost and other such buzzwords. I really do need to get out. Even the silly show that Mitch has been watching Phineas and Ferb is starting to make sense and I just love that Hannah Montana! HELP!

Still tired

I am still tired today. I only took one nap today but I slept through dinner and Frank said I was really rude when he tried to wake me! : ) Opps! He came home at 4 and I asked if I could please go lie down and didn't wake up until after 6 when I heard dishes being cleaned up and happy screams from the downstairs level. I felt really bad but I was so tired. A really good friend brought over dinner last night and she made wonderful chocolate chip cookies that even made me want to scream for joy: ) LOL Thanks Andi: ) We are still enjoying them today but not for much longer.

Tired Mommy!

I am so tired today! I have had this surgery before so I feel like "been there done that" but I forgot how tired I get and how hard it is to bend over with abdominal surgery! Wow, is about all I can say. I am only on day 2 so I figure I can still get a little mileage out of the line "I just had surgery" but not for long. : )

I have a cute Megan story... All day she would run up to me and ask to see my "owie owie owie". This afternoon after nap she pitter pattered down the hall, told me to wait and then came skittering back with a box of bandaids. I thought they were for me but there were for her. She got one out, peeled it open, asked for "hep!" and put it very gently over her belly button. Then she pointed at it and said "Meggie owie owie owie" and ran out of the room! As quick as a flash and as cute as an angel that little one: )

Made it through surgery

I ended up having surgery yesterday to remove the cyst on my left ovary. It was about 4 cm (about the size of a golf ball) and leaking fluid all over my abdomen which was causing me to be so sick last week. Surgery went real well and I was literally in and out of the hospital in 5 hours. I have been up and around today but really groggy and still taking the percocet. I have watched lots of TV and 27 Dresses(cute movie) but now it is starting to hurt to sit up straight so I will update more tomorrow. Thanks for the prayers!
