He got in!

We found out yesterday that Mitch got into Lincoln Academy Charter School. It was a little like winning the lottery, literally. There were only 19 spots available and Mitch was #17. When I heard I wanted to throw-up, cry, dance, scream and run around. In that exact order. I took all of his forms over to the school today and proudly drove him past there after I picked him up from preschool this morning. What a ride this has been. Now comes the realization that I have a child old enough to go to kindergarten and this process hasn't all been a sort of weird dream.

added later
*I should clarify that there were 19 spots available to the district...and 60 total kindergarteners at the school.

long week

It's been a really long week, but I made it, finally! To celebrate I bought myself some flowers at the store this morning while Megan and I were grocery shopping and they look really nice on my front bookshelf. The week has been long and draining because I finally got Mitch registered at our neighborhood school and open enrolled at the charter and our second choice school. It has been such an over whelming process with the forms to fill out, shot records, meetings, yada yada yada, plus we needed to register Megan for preschool as well. I guess I felt like my babies were growing up all at the same time and quickly had to think about the fall when it was only January. I am just glad this week is over and when Megan wanted to finger paint this morning I let her have at it...life is short! Happy Friday!

I made it back!

Here I am! My new computer is up and working. I still don't have all the kinks worked out and nothing is where it used to be, but MAN is it fast! WOW! I used to sign on to check my Facebook account, click on my profile, walk to the kitchen, comeback and then start looking at who left me a message!! lol Now it is zip-ity quick! I am LOVing it! Thanks Frank: ) His friend Howard built it for me at his favorite computer store.

In the mean time, I have been loosing my mind, quite literally, filling out forms and registering Mitch and Megan for preschool and kindergarten next fall. I am trying to fit in time to read and workout so I feel normal and sane but somedays I still get that in still feel crazy! I did just finish The Art of Racing in the Rain for book club and thought it was a pretty good read and then quickly sped through The Last Lecture. Both were decent but now I need something light and not so focused on death...any thoughts or suggestions?!

No speed yet

I have a new computer! Well, it's just a hard drive, and it's sitting on the floor still not hooked up. Frank and I have been really busy this week. Frank is working lots...out of town and on our bathroom(we are remodeling our master bath have I mentioned that?) and I have been in a constant state of freaking out about registering Mitch for Kindergarten. So while my dinosaur of a computer still works I have been stealing Frank's laptop at night to check email, Facebook and my blog. It is SO much faster and Frank says my new computer will be even faster. So now I just have to be patient and wait...

Speeding Up

Tomorrow I will be getting a new computer so as soon as Frank and I get it all hooked up and I get my snow pics loaded from earlier this week I can update what's happened over the last week or so. I have some really adorable pics of the kids out playing in the snow but my Dinosaur of a computer keeps locking up on me every 5 minutes. Tonight I resorted to stealing Frank's laptop to check some email, blog and catch up on Facebook...you know, the necessities : ) More later when I have more speed!

Routine

We are back to preschool around here and back to the routine of school, MOPS, and Megan's gymnastics. I enjoy routine, especially with 2 little ones. It helps keeps things in order better and we are watching less TV, playing more and smacking less. This is Mitch's last semester of preschool and in a few weeks we will be enrolling him in Kindergarten and then, scariest and saddest for me, is that it will be time to enroll Megan in preschool. I know she is ready but I can't believe my baby is big enough to be going to preschool. How time flies!
Time for the nightly routine so we can be ready for the morning...

Organizing

This year I resolved to be more organized. Generally, I am not an organized person. Clean, yes. Oraganized, no. I remember I used to be organized to some extent in high school and some of college and then I think I had kids and all that went out the window. The real kicker happened over the weekend when Frank saw me getting my socks out (as I was finishing getting dressed) over the weekend and I got one grey sock out of one drawer and another out of a different drawer. He gave me this look like, "seriously"! The crazy thing was that I knew exactly where that pair of socks was because I had seen them in the last week while looking for some other random thing. I know, sad, right? So there started my resolution of organizing and on Sunday I organized my sock and underwear drawer. This week I am onto the bill file and such since it is the beginning of the year and the bills and money give me such a fit each month. We'll see where that takes me. I also made my first "to do" list in probably a good year and even crossed things off today. What a concept!! If my sister reads this she is going to roll her eyes...

Happy New Year!

2009 has been a great year so far! : ) Frank and I rang in the New Year on the couch with a great movie last night...Into the Wild...if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. Today we all got to sleep in a little, Megan and I went shopping with my mom at JoAnne's and I have a few craft projects I am looking forward to and then we did the traditional New Year's dinner with my parents tonight. I made sure to eat lots of sauerkraut for good luck and money for the year and we started to make our resolutions for each other but my sister and her husband have the crud now so we weren't the rowdy crowd we usually are on New Year's day. This year I do hope to be a little more organized than I usually am...like taking the grocery list to the store with me, organizing the bills...I seem like the "A" personality but really Iam not. The thoughts in my head keep me from being totally and completely organized like some people I know.

Anyway...off to bed. I am planning to do something fun with the kiddos tomorrow. Maybe a movie or the aquarium if I am brave. Happy New Year to all!
