Kindergarten Field Day
Today was Mitch's first Field Day! He had a really great day, ran super fast, jumped extra high and got soaked at the end of the day by the Arvada Firefighters! These are just 2 pics from his great day...

Getting Fresh
I think I spent 3 or more hours in the kitchen tonight cooking and baking. I have jumped into this whole eating green and clean thing with 2 feet but at least 2 or more nights a week I am up to my armpits in dishes! I just don't have the hang of making fresh dishes yet without using every pot in the kitchen. Tonight's diner was super yummy, the kids and Frank tried sweet potatoes for the first time, and I made gluten free cookies for the second week in a row. Yea, I'm tired but it is worth it if we are all feeling good and Mitch's asthma is under control. On my wishing, hoping and dreaming list...one of those dishwashers with the disposal in it!!

A little planting
Megan and I did a little planting today. Last year we did more and the hail really did a number on my gardens. So, for right now I am waiting it out and seeing what I want to do. Today we planted a few perennials and pansies in our front garden and I really need to weed my other gardens and I mean really! Wow! Megan is such a good little garden helper; she sings the whole time and loves to look for worms. We shall see what else we plant in the weeks to come.

First Loaf
I made my first two loaves of bread by hand yesterday. Kneading, rising, kneading, rising, baking... and they turned out really well. A good friend turned me on to making my own sourdough bread because Mitch isn't real fond of any of the gluten free breads I've found on the market. Sourdough has a much more limited yeast/gluten content depending on how you make it and this one turned out really well, wasn't too time consuming and Mitch really likes it. If anyone else is interested check out www.kingarthurflour.com This is where you can get the sourdough starter, recipes, tips, tricks, etc. I found the flour at Kings on sale this week and stocked up on a few bags for the next few batches. I'll be baking again next week and it is so good hot out of the oven with real butter! Yum!!

What a week
I can't believe the first week of May is just about over! I told one of Megan's teacher's today that I need a social director just to get through this month alone. May, August and December are not my most favorite months. I just about loose my mind every year, and today was no different. Errands to run, classes to volunteer in, child to take for asthma appointments, oh my! I got it all done, Frank brought home some cheesecake from our most favorite cheesecake place and all is right in the world, for now. I'm looking forward to some time spent with family this weekend and maybe a little quiet for Mother's Day. We'll see how that works out. I'll let you know next week.
