We're in!

I got the much awaited call from the school this morning saying that Megan had a spot in Kindergarten.  Yay!  We kind of figured we had a pretty good chance going in with "sibling priority", but there is always that chance.  I was so excited, for her and me, and this new season we are about to start.  We chose morning Kindergarten for her and will start the Kindergarten tag-along process in April.  Our girl is growing up!

Britt's walk

About a month ago I shared that my friend and her husband were struggling and his health was not well. Over the weeks we have all fervently prayed and prayed for Brittany and Ryan and I am so glad to say that he is doing amazing. Brittany spoke at our MOPS group today(with a panel of other women) and shared (their) story and walk with his illness and I wanted to share with you the blog she has started. If I have learned nothing else in the last 6 weeks while watching her walk this walk it is this: lean on the Lord, and always, always love.

Mail this

In an effort to be more organized this year and I am slowly(it's only Jan 20th) trying to re-organize some things, sort things out, pack a few things away and throw things out. I have found this neat blog that I have been reading to get me inspired and today I read a post on organizing your mail. Sign me up! Check the link I posted below...I really like all of her ideas because our mail area tends to be a real catch all for mail, homework, magazines, you name it. Now I just need to find something I like and try it out.

5 Day weekend

It's looking like a 5 day weekend...no, really, it is. Mitch is sick with another sinus infection and has missed the last 2 days of school, and Monday is a holiday so it will be a 5 day weekend for us. Fun, but I wish it wasn't because Mitch was sick. It seems like Megan was our sick one last year and now Mitch is having his turn this year. Now that he is 7 he is a better at taking care of himself and I don't mind sick days, too much.

Cauli-favorite

This is one of my new favorite veggie sides to make, so yummy and pretty healthy.

Baked Parmesan Cauliflower

1 head of Cauliflower, cut into small florets
1/4 C Parmesan cheese
1/4 C dried bread crumbs
salt and pepper as desired
drizzle of olive oil

Mix all ingredients in a 9 x 13 pan, stir and bake at 400 degrees for 20 min or until cauliflower is tender.
Enjoy!

My family never finishes all of this so there is usually enough left over that I eat this for lunch the next day. Double yum!

Snow came to CO!

Frank and Megan sledding with a little help from Cora and Mitch

We successfully got enough snow that we were able to go sledding this weekend(and a little today). The temps. today were really, really cold so we didn't last long but it sure was fun!

The "K" Word

This week I filled out and turned in Megan's Choice Enrollment forms for Kindergarten. Yep, Kindergarten. I can hardly believe that my youngest will be in Kindergarten in the Fall. When I turned in her forms to the office I was excited for her but sad for me. These two are growing up so incredibly fast. Now we just wait and see( and hope and pray) that she makes it into the lottery so that she and Mitch will both be at Lincoln next Fall.

Last Day of Winter Break

We topped off the last day of Winter Break today with a trip to the Children's Museum, lunch at Daddy's office and ice cream at Dairy Queen. It was a great day and I will miss having the kids home. Winter Break is never long enough and my house is still a mess and even though the Christmas tree is down there are still toys huddling in every corner. Once they are back in school and we are back to a routine maybe I will get things in order around here, maybe?!

Resolutions

Each year I make the same resolutions and usually by the second or third week in January I have broken most, if not all, of them. This year Frank and I prayed about the same thing and decided to make a huge leap of faith in 2011. We are very uncertain where this will lead us, but we made a significant step in the right direction today and are both very excited about it. We'll share more as His decisions for us are made clear.

May you all be richly blessed in 2011!!
