Mitch's big day!

We took Mitch to see Walle in the theatres yesterday. He was so thrilled! We have been waiting for this day since February when we first heard of Walle and he started going to the Disney website http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/wall-e/ almost daily. The movie was great and when Walle first came on screen Mitch squealed "Dad, there he is, it's Walle!!" It was a great time and afterward we took him for ice cream.

I think now it's time to do something special with Megan though, because today Mitch is going to gym camp at the Little Gym and she was really miffed that she didn't go and last night she stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while we were at the movies. I'm sure she didn't mind but I am getting the feeling she is getting the little sister blues. I can hear her up in her crib banging the wall and whimpering still. She threw a huge fit after leaving Mitch at gym and we still have to go pick him up...

Walle and Barbie move in

I took the kids to Toys R Us this morning in search of Walle toys. The movie opened today and Mitch has been dying for some sort of Walle-box-toy-type thing. When we got to the store I waisted no time and asked the first person who worked there if they had Walle toys and where they were. According to this person we were lucky we came at 10am because he said by noon most of the toys are gone. Mitch was so thrilled when he saw them and picked out his new Walle box which he proclaimed was "just what he always wanted"!!

With only 3 weeks until Megan's birthday I thought we would shop around a little and see what caught her eye in hopes of getting some ideas for her. Nothing really set off any bells until we rounded the Barbie aisle...and then the she saw them...the plastic dolls, standing up straight and skinny in their sleek cardboard boxes and she pointed at one dressed in a bikini and said, "I hab dat!!" I handed it to her and as a mom that played with Barbies until the age of 12(maybe 13) I knew Barbie was going home with us.

So today, Walle and Barbie moved in to our house. Walle rolls all over the place and makes funny noises and Barbie, who once had beautiful hair, now has a tangled mass of blonde hair. I sat on the floor with the kids for a long time and took it all in, wondering what they were thinking and remembering long ago lazy summer days of playing Barbies ALL summer long.

Splashy Fun

The kids had fun over the weekend playing in the water on our deck. We really do have a little pool for them but they thought the dog bowls were much more fun...: )

"Nana is gonna barf if she knew I was drinking the water from my shoe!!"

Time for a nap!

Rockin Movie Night

Last night I recorded the premier of the Disney Channel's new movie Camp Rock and tonight we popped popcorn, let the kids stay up and had a movie night. Our kids are a little little (no, a lot little) to really get the gist of the movie, but it had the Jonas Brothers in and it was a good wholesome movie. I think Frank was bored with it but I thought it was cute and Megan danced almost the whole time and Mitch loved all the trailers for WALL E. So now I am off to bed and singing "we rock, we rock"! and probably will be most of the summer! Thanks Jonas Brothers! : )

Bad day at bedrock....

Today was not a good day. Frank came home early after a desperate call by me at about 4:30, pleading for back up! I will spare you the gory details and save myself the embarrassment because if I shared everything that went on today I am sure you would all be laughing and enjoying yourselves much more than I would appreciate. Let me just say that Megan is a budding artist and yesterday she drew all over the kitchen floor with sidewalk chalk and today wasn't much better and every chance she got she dipped, walked, dangled or sloshed in the dog bowl(and we have a big one because we have 3 dogs). Mr. Mitch was just downright ornery and I am thinking of calling my MIL and pleading with her to take him for the summer or offer me some sort of advice because according to Frank the apple doesn't fall from the tree...great! I have been exhausted every night this week to the point that I am asleep before my head even hits the pillow. Thank goodness for summer, parks and pools to wear these 2 out because my only saving grace and time of peace is their afternoon naps/rests!
Tomorrow is another day and I pray it is nothing like today!

First Crop

This year the kids and I planted a vegetable garden and last night we picked our first crop of spinach. It tasted so yummy! Unfortunately the weather is getting really warm and the rest of the spinach is not doing so well so I am not sure we will be getting much more. The pumpkins and cucumbers are doing great though and the sunflowers are in a race for the top of the fence. It's been fun to see what is growing and the kids love to see what is getting bigger each day. Now if I could just teach them to do the weeding... : )

Happy Father's Day!

What a day we had! This morning we went to the Colorado Railroad Museum with my parents for their annual Father's Day steam up and got to ride one of the big trains. I haven't been to the museum since I was little but my parents have a pass and take the kids all the time so Mitch and Megan were pros at climbing in and out of all the trains and we came home covered in cinders and ashes! : ) It was a lot of fun and exactly the sort of thing Frank and my dad wanted to do. Then we went to my sister's for a picnic and her hubby barbecued for all the dad's. Dinner was wonderful, the kids got to play, and we all relaxed on my their deck.

Most importantly, Happy Father's day to my father and the father of my children! Love ya!
